In a recent article that I have read on Memeburn, they state that mobile is a pretty big deal; They are not wrong. And it is going to get even bigger.
Chances are good that you are reading this post on either a mobile platform or smartphone rather than on your computer. This is what the world has come to. We want information ready at our immediate request. We want to be connected to the world wide web.
In one of Capital FM’s articles, they also state that mobile subscriptions will reach 1 billion only in Africa by 2015! That is the same amount of active Facebook users at the moment. Not only this, but Africa is also the world’s second largest mobile market behind Asia. Currently there are round about 760 million mobile subscribers. If this rate of mobile growth continues, that 1billion will be reached before 2015.
“Africa’s mobile market continues to grow robustly, driven by competition among mobile operators, the availability of new data services and strong economic growth on the continent,” said Matthew Reed, principal analyst for Africa and the Middle East at Informa Telecoms & Media.
Not only in Africa, but anywhere else is the mobile phone giving people a means to do anything that they want. Be it for paying rent, checking emails, buying and selling online on classifieds, or just regular mobile banking. And the best part; people want to be socially connected to each other. Either with friends and family, or just to see what is going on in the world of entertainment.
